About this role
The Financial Controller at this manufacturing industry company will be responsible for key locations for the business. This position is based in Mexico and will have a S. American focus. The company is headquartered in the USA so your English needs to be excellent.
The primary purpose of your role is to meet all financial reporting timelines, working with advanced reporting tools and ensuring good communication across different teams.
You will be providing financial modeling to support business decisions and the strategy for growth and expansion in the region. You’ll be highly proficient at SAP financial modules or other ERP (enterprise resource planning tools).
Your role has three main areas of impact.
PURPOSE: Providing information and contributing to the growth of the business.
You will analyze financial statements and other reports, you’ll be identifying trends and deviations in order to provide timely business information to support decision-making.
You will lead internal control system and adherence to corporate policies and procedures.
You’ll prepare budgets and forecasts by collecting, analyzing and consolidating financial data, and preparing financial models to assess different scenarios. You’ll deliver budget objectives by accurate scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and enforcing corrective actions.
You’ll have on-going participation in financial process improvements and system updates. You’ll identify EBIT-enhancing activities that will maximize shareholder return while protecting assets.
PURPOSE: Responsibility for all accounting and finance operations of part of the business.
You’ll maintain the accounting system (cost/profit center, general ledger accounts, internal orders, etc). You’ll review all account reconciliation, manage the statutory accounts and deliver all reporting. At month end, you’ll be responsible for executing a 48-hour close process, working in a cross-functional team environment.
You will liaise with both internal and external auditors, providing supporting documentation as needed, meeting the audit schedule.
PURPOSE: Leadership within the business (and to develop your team).
You’ll meet your direct reports on day #1. You’ll be ensuring their understanding of basic accounting functions and coaching them on financial reporting and systems. You’ll be a great communicator, able to communicate with non-finance staff to help them understand the accounting principles needed when inputting data into SAP.
You’ll be enforcing high standards of financial compliance in your team and department. As the manager you’ll take on recruitment and training programs for your direct reports. You’ll be setting goals, providing feedback, developing the employees and assessing their job performance.
You will also meet the supervisors, managers and other key business, corporate, accounting, and finance colleagues across the company. You’ll develop good relationships with your colleagues in other functions, to both obtain and exchange information.
And you’ll comply with all applicable regulatory health and safety policies and practices in order to ensure the personal safety of all employees, company assets, environment and regulatory compliance.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required (Master’s Degree in Finance is preferred)
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is preferred
Experience and Expertise
- At least 4 years of experience in Public Accounting Environment is preferred (5+ years of experience in finance or in a managerial accounting role acceptable)
- Proficient at financial modeling and all Microsoft office tools
- Advance-level English
